Infineon recently expanded its successful PROFET™ family with a dedicated motorcycle IC (BTS6110-1SJA). The BTS6110-1SJA is an intelligent single-channel high-side switch specifically designed to drive indicator light bulbs in the harsh motorcycle environment. It is automotive-qualified with short circuit protection for a longer system lifetime.
The BTS6110-1SJA offers autonomous frequency generation, enabling accurate flashing. Smart bulb failure detection doubles the frequency. It is a ground-less device which is important for placement in the motorcycle application. Very low current consumption maximizes system efficiency overall and enables designers to use small external capacitors. It has 65 V load dump protection which removes the necessities of external components to address the kick start voltage.
The compact size of the package (PG-DSO8) means it can be easily placed into the handlebar of motorcycles.
