Under-$100 USB DAQ simplifies thermocouple measurements

Employing InstantDAQ technology that automatically loads built-in measurement software, the NI USB-TC01 USB data acquisition device simplifies measurement and recording of temperature data from a thermocouple. Priced at $99, the device also has a standard miniplug connector that lets customers use J-, K-, R-, S-, T-, N-, E-, or B-type thermocouples to meet their specific application needs.

Connected to a PC, the DAQ offers instant setup for numerous temperature-measurement applications performed in labs, including precise monitoring of HVAC units, cryogenic systems, industrial ovens and furnaces, engine combustion/exhaust systems, and building environments. The device has 20-bit resolution, 50/60-Hz noise rejection greater than 80 dB, input noise of 2 μVp-p, and typical cold-junction compensation sensor resolution of 0.0625°C.

Users can optionally expand the basic functionality of the USB-TC01 at no cost by downloading additional ready-to-run applications from the manufacturer’s Web site, or build their own applications with NI LabVIEW graphical system design software and NI-DAQmx driver software.
