  Analog filters must satisfy multiple design specifications (i.e., gain, phase and time response) and implementation constraints (i.e., component tolerance, IC
  package and power supply voltage and current limitations). The design of a complex filter network requires
  substantial mathematical work and experience in an
  available technology (i.e., integrated circuits or op
  amps and discrete components). Linear Technology’s
  FilterCADВ® 3.0 (FCAD) automates and simplifies the
  process of analog filter design and implementation.
  FCAD is a Microsoft Windows-based program. FCAD
  reduces the lengthy process of selecting and designing
  an optimal filter to a sequence of mouse clicks. Based
  on a user’s input of filter parameters, FCAD designs a
  filter response and then implements that response as a
  practical circuit using a Linear Technology active RC or
  switched-capacitor filter IC. FCAD can realize lowpass,
  highpass, bandpass and notch filters with a variety of
  responses, including Butterworth, Bessel, Chebyshev,
  elliptic and minimum Q elliptic. In addition, with FCAD,
  a custom filter can be designed to meet an arbitrary

  The LTC В®1563 family of continuous time, monolithic
  п¬Ѓlter products reduces lowpass п¬Ѓlter design to a simple
  resistor value calculation:
  R = 10k (256kHz/fC)
  where
  R = the resistor value in Ohms
  fC = the filter’s cutoff frequency in Hertz
  (256Hz ≤ fC ≤ 256kHz)
  It’s that simple. With the help of any basic calculator
  (or slide rule), п¬Ѓlters are designed in a few seconds.
  With the LTC1563, not only is the design process painless, but the end result is an easy-to-build circuit that has
  been fully specified for its performance as a filter—not
  just an op amp, a resistor or a capacitor. Additionally,
  layout sensitivity is minimized and you only need to
  specify one passive component—a resistor. single resistor value (six resistors are required to form
  the п¬Ѓlter, but they are all the same value). Similarly, the
  LTC1563-3 gives a unity gain, 4th order Bessel lowpass
  п¬Ѓlter where the cutoff frequency is also set by a single

  Quartz crystal RMS operating current is critical to long-term stability,
  temperature coefficient and reliability.
  Accurate determination of RMS crystal current, especially in micropower
  types, is complicated by the necessity
  to minimize introduced parasitics,
  particulary capacitance, which corrupt
  crystal operation.
  Figure 1’s high gain, low noise
  amplifier combines with a commercially available closed core current probe to permit the measurement.
  An RMS-to-DC converter supplies
  the RMS value. The quartz crystal
  test circuit shown in dashed lines
  exemplifies a typical measurement
  situation. The Tektronix CT-1 current
  probe monitors crystal current while
  introducing minimal parasitic loading.
  The probe’s 50Ω terminated output
  is fed to A1. A1 and A2 take a closed
  loop gain of 1120; excess gain over a

  Introduction
  Lowpass filters are required in systems for a variety of reasons: to limit
  the noise bandwidth, smooth out transition edges or remove unwanted
  signals. To make it easy for designers
  to use lowpass filters, Linear Technology Corporation developed the
  LTC1563-2 and LTC1563-3, for which
  a simple formula and a single resistor
  value set the cutoff frequency. The
  LTC1563 features two 2nd order
  building block sections, which can be
  cascaded to form a 4th order filter.
  Some applications, though, do not
  require the higher order filtering, but
  they do require more filters. For these
  applications, the LTC1563 building
  block sections can be used separately
  to produce a dual 2nd or 3rd order
  filter, thus saving the space and expense of additional ICs.
