High-Voltage Regulator Transistor Reduces Footprint to Deliver 5V Supply for Microcontrollers

Diodes ZXTR2105F ZXTR2105F-7

Diodes Incorporated introduced the ZXTR2105F. This regulator monolithically integrates a transistor, Zener diode and resistor to provide a 5 V 15 mA output from inputs up to 60 V. Offered in a small SOT-23 package, the ZXTR2105F transistor reduces component count and minimizes PCB area in microcontroller applications, such as DC cooling fans for PCs and servers, as well motor drive, blowers and sensor applications in industrial and automotive market segments.

The ZXTR2105F is designed to replace three discrete components, and when typically used to produce a stable supply of between 4.7 V and 5.3 V from 12 V or 24 V inputs, not only minimizes the solution footprint but also increases system power density and reliability. The device’s 60 V maximum input rating ensures sufficient headroom in the event of transient over-voltage conditions, while its excellent line and load regulation safeguards continuous operation by ensuring transient voltage drops cannot cause latch-up, which further contributes to system reliability.
