Panasonic Announced the Release of the Highest Ripple Current Snap-in Aluminum Capacitor(TS-EE series)

Panasonic

Panasonic Electronic Devices Co., Ltd. has succeeded in commercializing the snap-in type aluminum electrolytic capacitor TS-EE series suitable for power supply circuits of home appliances as well as digital-controlled home appliances. We will strengthen the global structure for supplying the products and meet the worldwide specifications of power supplies.

As power supply circuits of a variety of equipment have become smaller, thinner as well as more effective, aluminum electrolytic capacitors used for smoothing circuits of power supplies have been required to be more compact as well as more effective for higher ripple current.

Features

  1. The industry's highest withstanding ripple-performance, accommodating a large current of devices

    • Rated ripple current:
      Max. 5.22 A.r.m.s. at the medium-voltage products

    • Max 3.18 A r.m.s. at the high-voltage products (at 120 Hz, 105) (*1)
(Max. 1.5-times increase compared with our current models)

  2. Compact size, reducing the size of devices and the number of capacitors used in devices

    • Compact size: Two ranks reduction(for example: capacitor with 35 mm in diameter change to capacitor with 22 mm in diameter)

    • Approx. 50 % reduction in volume compared with our current models(*2)

    • The number of used components: 1/3 reduction(for example: three capacitors
      change to two capacitors

  3. Long life

    • Life: 3,000 hours guaranteed at 105 (Our current models: 2,000 hours at 105)
(*)Rated voltage 400 V, Diameter 35 mm Height 45 mm
(*2) Compared with the same ripple current value

Applications

  • Inverter circuits used in home appliances (Refrigerators, Washing machines, Air-conditioners)

  • Power supply circuits used in digital-controlled home appliances (DVDs, PDPs, LCD TVs)

  • Power supply circuits used in Industrial appliances

More information about strengthening the structure for producing and for supplying the products

Panasonic will commence mass production of the TS-EE series (at the same time at each production base in Malaysia (*1) and in North America (*2) as well as in Japan, in February 2006.

(*1) Malaysia production base: Matsushita Electronic Devices (M) Sdn.Bhd. [MEDEM]
(*2) North America production base: (in Nnoxville, TN) Panasonic Electronic Devices Corporation of America. [PEDCA]
