Following on from the successful release of its OTP type small package MCUs, Holtek is delighted to release its new range of small package Flash type devices. The HT68F03/04 devices are I/O type MCUs while the HT66F03/04 devices are A/D type MCUs. All devices in the series meet with industrial specifications (−40°C~85°C) and have excellent noise immunity. Their internal EEPROM memory can be used to store data such as product parameters or manufacturing data, which will be retained even if power is removed, a feature which greatly enhances product flexibility.

This device series has a Flash Program Memory capacity of 1K × 14~2K × 15, 64 or 96 bytes of SRAM Data Memory, 8 I/O pins, a pair of internal comparators etc. Excellent flexibility in oscillator functions is provided with five oscillator options: high frequency crystal, low frequency crystal (32KHz), external RC, internal low frequency RC (32KHz) and internal high frequency RC. This latter high frequency internal RC oscillator has fixed 4 MHz, 8 MHz and 12 MHz frequencies with an accuracy of ±2%. The ability to dynamically switch between low and high speed operation allows the user to achieve the optimum performance/power ratio.

The HT68F0x and HT66F0x series devices all include Holtek’s new multi-function timer modules that are capable of providing functions such as Input Capture, Compare Match Output, Timer/Event Counting, Single Pulse Generation, and PWM signal generation. The A/D type HT66F0x also contains an internal 12-bit speed ADC and internal voltage reference function. With the 10-MSOP package type having a footprint of only 3mm x 3mm, these small package types have an even smaller outline than standard 8-pin DIP/SOP packages, making them extremely suitable for those application areas where space is at a premium.

These small package type devices, with the special characteristics of small outlines, versatility and multi-functional I/O pin types, will offer excellent solutions for a wide range of product applications that require low cost, small packages and high efficiency.

To support these new devices, Holtek naturally supplies a full suite of excellent hardware and software development tools known as the HT-IDE3000 (Windows-based) which includes a hardware In-Circuit Emulator, full trace analysis functions as well as many other functions. Holtek’s e-Writer also provides a means for In-Circuit Programming to allow fast program updating and development. Holtek also offers a range of application guides to ensure developers have their designs up and running in the shortest time possible.
