New TLE6251D High-Speed CAN Transceiver with Bus Wake Capability Meets Global OEM Requirements

Infineon TLE6251D

Infineon has started mass production of its high-speed CAN transceiver TLE6251D with bus wake-up capability. The new transceiver is designed to meet global OEM requirements. Hence, TLE6251D can be used all over the world, enabling manufacturers to seamlessly integrate it into designs without having to worry about OEM approval.

TLE6251D comes with a Vio input, enabling the microcontroller TxD/RxD interface voltage to be set for interaction with 5V and 3.3V microcontrollers. The Vio input PIN also supplies the Vio input, allowing the 5V CAN transceiver supply to be switched off. Thus, the bus wake-up remains active while the quiescent current requirement at system level and subsequently the related CO2 emissions at vehicle level are reduced to a minimum.

Infineon - TLE6251

The new TLE6251D HS CAN transceiver handles data transmission rates of up to 1MBaud and features a wide range of new, integrated functions. These include very low bus leakage current in power-down mode and a bus termination to GND in stand-by mode. The new tranceiver also features TxD timeout, which prevents the CAN bus locking if the microcontroller fails.

Furthermore, the maximum CAN bus short-circuit current has been reduced to below 100mA, enabling smaller voltage regulators to be used. In addition to excellent ESD robustness, TLE6251D offers outstanding immunity to electromagnetic interference and also has a very low rate of electromagnetic emissions. Owing to its tailored feature set, the 8-pin TLE6251D is the perfect fit for automotive designs that involve bus-wake-up-capable HS CAN transceivers.
