Industry-leading performance, up to 28 V over-voltage protection, current limiting and true reverse blocking
Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS) introduced a new Type-C Power Delivery compliant load switch with up to 28 V over-voltage protection. AOZ1353 is a current-limited load switch with reverse current blocking capability intended for applications where internal circuitry requires protection from exposure to high voltages. This new device offers low RDS(ON) (40 mOhm) in a thermally enhanced 3×3 mm DFN package, making it an ideal solution for the latest notebooks, ultrabooks, desktops, monitors, dockings/dongles, and Thunderbolt/USB Type-C PD applications.
The new AOZ1353 operates from voltages between 3.4 V and 5.5 V from VIN and VOUT is rated at 28 V Absolute Maximum. The internal current limiting circuit protects the supply from large load currents. The back-to-back switch configuration blocks any leakage between VIN and VOUT pins when the device is disabled or when the device is enabled, but VOUT is greater than VIN. The AOZ1353 is fully programmable with comprehensive protection features including soft start, short-circuit protection, thermal protection, over-current and over-voltage protection.
|Functional Block Diagram.|
|Max Operating Voltage||3.4 V to 5.5 V||4 V to 5.5 V|
|Quiescent Current||80 µA||>1500 µA|
|Shutdown Current||1 µA||7 µA|
|Max Load Current||3.5 A||3 A|
|Programmable Soft Start||Adjustable||Fixed|
The AOZ1353 is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12 weeks. The unit price of 1,000 pieces is $1.5.
